Although I don't get many tickets to come through about this, it is frustrating for me and the user. As we're a school, not everyone is by a phone, so can't walk them through it, and they don't go to other computers often enough to pick up their emails when elsewhere, so involves a physical visit to resolve the issue.
I've looked at many topics on here, and none seem to have a solution. The group policy search website that I normally use has no answer. All I want to be able to do is disable the 'feature' so it can't be turned on. Some people turn it on accidentally.
Others have had it turn on randomly by the system. Not the same, but I wouldn't disable as this sometimes gets turned off automatically and then if it is disabled there is no way to turn it off. So I would just deal with it on a case by case situation. Unless you see your users doing so for sure, I would not worry about it. Not the same as Cached mode, under the Send Receive tab there's a big tempting button that's labelled "Work Offline" which means you can read downloaded emails, add emails to your Outbox but not actually send or receive anything.
I haven't tried to disable it as i've only been caught out by it twice as well users will be users and if it's a button it must be clicked as soon as humanly possible.
You can disable buttons using the Office admx templates can be downloaded here. You'll need to know the command bar ID a quick google says it is but you'll want to check thatselect enabled for the disable command bar buttons and then click on show and enter the ID number.
